My home is the road. We are taking that phrase literally and bringing a real big-city feeling to the trade fair grounds with our new “E-Bike City”. Approximately 20,000 visitors tried out the old INTERMOT e-motion testing site in 2016 alone. Now, with around 100 exhibitors from the fields of e-bikes, electric scooters and accessories for electric vehicles, both brands and providers of e-motion, as well as the test area itself, will be presented in a completely new way – in Hall 10.2, right next to Entrance East, in a dynamic environment with a brand-new city look. In the urban-themed “E-Bike City”, the specially designed indoor course with live traffic simulation, an off-road area as well as the E-Scooter Demo World, visitors will be able to experience the full glory of this future trend in an innovative way.
It is true: electric mobility has to be experienced to be truly appreciated; and it’s important that this takes place in realistic conditions. It’s for this reason that we created the new E-Bike City and the huge E-Scooter Demo World for INTERMOT e-motion, giving visitors the opportunity to try out e-bikes, S-pedelecs and e-scooters in the most varied of traffic conditions, live on site. More than 15,000 test rides were taken at INTERMOT 2016.
Located right next to the new Hall 10.2 is the E-Scooter Demo World, a large outdoor test area for e-scooters and electric light motorcycles. Parking ramps with steep gradients have been incorporated into the test track so riders can see for themselves just how much thrust is packed into these e-scooters!
Hall 10.2 will be transformed into an urban jungle with a large test track, a variety of differently themed areas and realistic traffic simulations – including roundabouts, traffic lights and footbridges! This is where, for the first time ever, all types of e-bike – from simple city bikes through cargo bikes to mountain bikes – can be put through their paces.
The concentrated presentation of e-bikes, S-pedelecs and e-scooters will be the focus of the activities in Hall 10.2: alongside the e-motion stage, the spotlight will also be on the various themed areas in the hall. And this is where local dealers can offer test rides on their wide range of e-bikes too.
One particularly noteworthy offering among the themed areas is the tourism pavilion. This joint stand is the result of an alliance between various regions that will be presenting the advantages and opportunities presented by electric mobility in the tourism sector. Destinations and touring routes will be just as important a topic here as navigation, accessories for electric vehicles and new ideas for cycling holidays.
This year, everything on the e-motion stage will centre around the needs of urban riders. Visitors will be presented with a great mix of specialist knowledge, products and special offers.
Located in front of the stage, this is where the topics of fast cycle lanes, security and theft protection, charging systems, cycling clothing and digital technology (i.e. smart bikes and bicycle networking) will be put under the microscope.
Kids can look forward to several test tracks, where they can get their first experience of e-bikes, e-scooters and quad bikes – and the INTERMOT driving licence! In addition, there is a special balance bike and scooter track for the youngest children.
“You really have to experience a pedelec – everyone who does is won over by them. This is why we are so happy about the large test track.”
Thomas Henke, Sales Manager Germany, Hercules GmbH

Europe's heart beats in Cologne. The vibrant metropolis is located in the middle of one of the most populous regions, with 180 million Europeans within a radius of 500 km. And no matter where you come from, all roads lead to Koelnmesse: the 10 motorways circling Cologne are well signposted and lead visitors directly to Koelnmesse. It's a quick trip for rail passengers, too. Koelnmesse's own train station is right at the front door and is connected to Europe's ICE high-speed network: Frankfurt is only an hour's ride away. Koelnmesse is also connected to the international airports of Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. There are about 15,000 parking spaces adjacent to the exhibition. Cologne’s hotel capacity offers more than 90,000 beds.
With over one million inhabitants, Cologne has a vibrant cultural scene. The Philharmonic Hall, the world-famous Cathedral, numerous museums and the Lanxess Arena offer extraordinary possibilities for the event programme. Of course, you can also enjoy the Rhineland lifestyle in Cologne: with countless pubs, restaurants and breweries, there's something for everyone.
